If you’re following us on social media, you may see a bit of a theme with surnames around here, and it’s no secret that Tom Black’s son Ryan is part of our terrific account team.  Ryan is based in our Houston office and started with BM&G more than two years ago this month.

After graduating from SUNY Buffalo Law School (and prior, undergraduate degree at Notre Dame), he was on the staff of a U.S. senator who served on the Senate Banking Committee, which had jurisdiction over many issues affecting our industry.  He’s most proud of the work he did to support regulatory relief for community banks and credit unions, which was signed into law last summer.

As with the rest of the account team, Ryan is responsible for ensuring our clients receive top-notch service while also looking for new business opportunities.  Ryan reports to Regina Uhl, our partner who manages the Houston office, and he’s quick to give her credit for lessons he’s learned about patience, persistence and our sales cycle.  He also reports that he’s learned much from Calvin Mann about forming relationships and getting involved in associations that support our industry.  Ryan serves on two committees for the TMBA – and is on the board of HMBA and the Houston chapter of NAPMW.

Ryan and his wife Becky met at Notre Dame, and they’re the proud parents of Harper.  If you haven’t had a chance to work with Ryan, I hope you’ll have an opportunity soon.
