Samantha Monclova’s path to her role in Black, Mann & Graham’s Accounting department is a testament to growth, gratitude, and the power of unexpected opportunities. Since joining the firm as a summer intern in 2016, Samantha has not only found her footing in a career she never imagined but has also become a valued member of the team.

Initially, Samantha didn’t see herself in accounting. As a student at the University of North Texas, she pursued biology and forensics with an eye toward a different kind of future. However, while working part-time at BMG during holidays to process payments, she discovered a passion for numbers and problem-solving. By 2019, she became a full-time employee, and in 2020, she graduated from UNT with her degree, ready to embrace her evolving career path.

“I never thought I’d be in accounting,” Samantha admits, “but I love numbers and math. I like to stay organized and enjoy being recognized for my work at Black, Mann & Graham.”

Samantha’s journey at BMG is also personal. Her mother, Elizabeth Puente, has been a team member for over a decade, originally recruited by former Comptroller Grace Maher. The family connection adds a special layer of meaning to Samantha’s role, as she works alongside her mother in the same department.

Samantha credits much of her professional growth to her manager, Rose Flores, whose encouragement and mentorship have been pivotal, especially as Samantha navigates her first full-time job.

“Rose always tells me to use my voice and have confidence,” Samantha shares. “That advice has been so important to me. I even texted her on Thanksgiving to express my gratitude for her support.”

This spirit of gratitude and collaboration extends to how Samantha approaches her work and relationships. She’s committed to upholding BMG’s core values and pays forward the kindness and encouragement she’s received.

Outside the office, Samantha leads a life driven by faith and service. She and her husband, Josiah, are active in their church, where they lead a marriage life group and lead a pre-teen ministry for children ages 9-12. Josiah is currently preparing for his pharmacy board exams, and together they balance their busy schedules with a shared passion for making a difference in their community.

At home, the couple dotes on their French bulldog, Rocco, who brings joy and laughter to their lives.
