Partner Steven Kubik says he has experienced many ‘firsts’ as a member of the 2024 class of MBA Education’s prestigious Future Leaders Program.  To start, he had an opportunity to attend the MBA’s National Advocacy Conference in March, which he described as a fantastic experience.

During the trip to Washington, he advocated for the industry alongside the entire Texas delegation. He shared, “We were fortunate to have a fantastic group led by DHI Mortgage’s Lula Gomez, and TMBA General Counsel, John Fleming, joined us for several meetings. The MBA does a fantastic job of coordinating meetings with the staff of Congressional members, and we even met with U.S. Senator Ted Cruz.”

More recently, Steven and his Future Leaders class met again in Washington for a summer session focused on perfecting communication skills with executive audiences.  Steven says a side trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is an experience he’ll never forget.

“Seeing Gettysburg was an incredible experience,” he shared. “The battlefield is so vast; you almost get lost in history. Our tour guide was excellent, and he pointed out how troops were positioned in the battle that lasted several days.  We were also given a souvenir – a 50-caliber “Minie Ball” spent bullet found on the battlefield. I keep it on my desk as a reminder of how the leadership on that fateful day shaped our lives today.”

Next, Steve and his assigned team will work on a business plan they’ll present at the MBA Convention in Denver demonstrating how they’d capitalize on the current market with the highest return to investors. The competition is an important final phase of the program.

Great work, Steven! We are proud of you and your selection as a class member for this year’s Future Leaders Program.
