These days call for a bit of outside-the-box thinking when it comes to recruiting and training new members of the BM&G family. That’s why the firm relied on a bit of ingenuity and creativity when hiring 17 industry rookies who’ll start as Legal Analysts on August 3.
“The firm has set monthly volume records this year, as we anticipate even more business to come,” Houston Managing Attorney Ryan Black explains. “Due to COVID-19, we re-imagined our traditional hiring process with an innovative plan to recruit, hire, and train our new team members.”
For the new team members, recruiting and hiring traditionally handled in person was moved online and via Zoom. Under the direction of Christana Coleman, who’s taking on an additional role as corporate trainer, new hires will be onboarded through online individual and group training classes where they’ll also learn about the firm’s history, core values and brand promise of being prompt, precise and personable. In addition, Tom Black will lend his industry experience by teaching the new team members a version of his Mortgage 101 class that he taught for many years through the Mortgage Bankers Association.
“We are thrilled to bring our new team members aboard and get them trained to deliver outstanding customer service,” Ryan adds. “At the same time, they’ll bring much-needed relief to our existing team who’ve worked incredibly hard to service a record-setting volume of business since the beginning of the year.”
The new hires represent a broad spectrum of expertise and talent ranging from a USMC veteran to graduates of TCU, SMU, and Rice, as well as aspiring law school and master’s degree candidates. As legal assistants, they’ll aide supervising attorneys in the preparation of residential mortgage closing documents. Nine of the new hires will support the firm’s North Texas offices, and six will be based in Houston. The new hires are:
