The latest version of the BMG Texas Home Equity Manual is now available on our website. Click here to access it. We spoke with Senior Attorney Daniel Engle, who co-authored the Manual, to learn more about this valued resource.

What updates were included in the latest version of the home equity manual?

The latest version includes amendments made to Regulatory Interpretation Section 153.1 that took effect July 14, 2022 and clarified the definition of a business day. We also updated the Various Questions and Answers section and added the new Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac forms that were recently revised.

As a co-author of the home equity manual, what value do you get from this resource?

It’s a great tool for everyone—whether you’re a seasoned Texas lender needing to do a deep dive on an issue that does not commonly occur or you’re new to Texas and need to learn the basics of home equity lending. The Manual has been used for decades as a training tool and as practical guidance on Article XVI Section 50(a)(6) of the Texas Constitution.

How often is the Manual updated, and when can we expect the next version?
